Matchroom Pool Debuts New Championship In The Sunshine State



The FIRST-EVER Florida Open Pool Championship made history! This championship was a new event for Matchroom Pool as part of their World Nineball Tour. The world’s best Pool players united under the palm trees in the Sunshine State.
Running across 5 days on the 5th-10th August at the stunning Caribe Royal Resort in Orlando, Florida, it established its place as the premier stop on the new World Nineball Tour. 256 players competed in a high stakes, intense competition, with 128 of the biggest names in Nineball in attendance, including 14 former champions. It proved to be an unforgettable experience for the players and fans watching.
Players representing 50 countries, did all they could to be the winner of this brand new exquisite trophy, alongside the increased total prize fund for the 2025 competition of $500,000 with a top prize of $40,000 for the champion.
Aloysius Yapp made history becoming the first player ever to win back to back WNT Open events, where he took home the trophy and the mega prize money after an exceptional few days of the best Pool played under the Florida sun.

What do you think of when you think of Florida – Palm Trees! EFX created the ultimate Palm, totalling in at just under 400mm this mega trophy is made up of 6 layers of intricate waterjet cut palm segments plated in 24ct gold plated solid aluminium and mounted onto a nickel plated high shine aluminium plinth base. It is the ultimate luxury award which fits perfectly in the sunny surroundings of this new and exciting championship.
