Exciting Relaunch Of Children’s Book Awards

This one is a real page turner!! ‘Peters’ is the UK’s leading specialist supplier of children’s books and furniture to schools, academies and public libraries. For 90 years, Peters has worked closely with librarians, educators and reading professionals to promote literacy and to inspire children and young people to read. This year, with the help of EFX, they relaunched the Peters’ Children’s Book of the Year Award for the first time since 2016.

Peters’ mission is to get the best books into the hands of young readers, and the award celebrates some of the fantastic fiction and non-fiction books published for children. Books are nominated internally by their team of librarians and children’s book specialists, and the winners are then voted for by teachers and librarians across the UK. They hosted a ceremony at Peters for their own staff, along with an extensive social media campaign to promote the awards.

As it was the first year running the awards, trophies and prizes were sent out to the winners by post, but in years to come there may be an in-person awards ceremony at Peters. This year’s overall winner of Peters Children’s Book Of The Year 2025 was ‘Big Bad Wolf Investigates Fairy Tales’ by Catherine Cawthorne and Sara Oglivie. Who each received not only the inspired trophy but a prize of £500 worth of books from Peters to donate to a school or public library of their choice.

Logo Inspired Trophy

The award for Peters was inspired by their recognisable logo, using a combination of layered coloured acrylic and high shine 24ct gold plated aluminium, printed and engraved. This design was awarded remotely to all of the category winners for all of their hard work for the next generation of readers.
