Electric Atmosphere At Returning Elite Track Cycling Event

In front of a packed crowd, the ‘London 3 Day’ tournament returned for a second edition of elite track cycling last month. A weekend full of world-class racing, showcasing power, precision, incredible teamwork, strategy and blistering pace from start to finish.

The weekend creates a chance for emerging talents to go head to head with seasoned professionals, and put it all on the track! Record-breaker Matt Richardson took the win in Men’s sprint which delivered pure speed and drama, and Olympic and World Champion Emma Finucane brought her gold-medal speed, taking the win in the Women’s sprint.

Lee Valley VeloPark was lit up with tens of thousands of fans, and broadcast live on Cycling Weekly’s Youtube Channel reaching so many more avid cycling fans! The atmosphere in the packed velodrome was electric, with the crowds loving every single lap. Sir Bradley Wiggins also made a special appearance to entertain guests and host VIP experiences.

Other winners in the Grand Finale included – Men’s Endurance winners – Yoeri Havik & Philip Heijnen and the Women’s Endurance closed out the weekend in spectacular style with Katie Archibald & Sophie Lewis on the top podium.

As the London 3 Day continues to grow and becomes a permanent fixture on the cycling calendar,  their mission extends beyond the track. They are “committed to promoting cycling as a sustainable mode of transport, a fun way to stay fit, and a path to connect with a diverse and vibrant community.”

Olympic Inspired Design

The design for the awards were based on the tournament’s venue, the famous Lee Valley VeloPark, a beacon of British cycling and a legacy of the London 2012 Olympics. EFX created three different sized awards for each race, in 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. The first place and largest design at 440mm was made from gold anodised aluminium with added bamboo track detailing and a digitally printed and waterjet cut L3 for the centre.

The tiered base also had a black acrylic layer. The two smaller award designs were made in anodised solid aluminium, bamboo and digitally printed.

The clients were ecstatic with their trophies, commenting on how fantastic they looked, returning to EFX for another year to create them.

Plans for The London 3 Day 2026 are promising to be even bigger and better, pushing the boundaries of track racing events in the UK and making a fantastic weekend of live music, food, drink & fun for all of the family.
