EFX Brings Ideas To Life For CCP Games

From concept to creation. EFX always delivers. We loved this transformation from the clients original ideas, to the finished trophy for CCP Games, at their annual esports tournament. CCP Games are a video game developer from Reykjavik, Iceland.  EVE Online is a massive multiplayer online science fiction roleplaying game created by CCP Games in Iceland. It has been running continuously since 2003 and enjoys a large, dedicated player base. Taking inspiration from their sci-fi game for the design, the award was created in aluminium with some key game features.

For the last 20 years CCP Games has held an annual in-game Alliance Tournament where the largest player groups fight for the glory of being crowned Alliance Tournament champions. It was decided that it was time for there to be a physical trophy commemorating the accomplishments of our Alliance Tournament champions on display at CCP Games’ headquarters in Reykjavik.

CCP Games commissioned EFX in the UK to construct the trophy. Weighing 18kg and standing over half a metre tall, the trophy’s appearance is inspired by in-game settings and displays the winners of the previous 21 Alliance Tournaments with room for 19 more.

The trophy was unveiled at the annual EVE Fanfest global player convention in Reykjavik, Iceland in May 2025 to much acclaim.

EFX recreates EVE

The trophy was inspired by a combination of the pillars of a giant in-game space station, the gold winged statue and a perpetual trophy design. The finished result is breath-taking. With a clever print design on the statue giving it the look of 3D, using a mixture of 24ct gold plated aluminium, black anodised aluminium on the base and pillars and nickel plated aluminium for the winner’s name plates.
