Dee Takes to the Stage as Tiree Music Festival Travels 561 Miles for Event Award
Dee, one of EFX’s hard-working account handlers, has made her début on stage: at the UK: Event Awards 2014, organised by The Drum and held at the Marriott Grosvenor Square, 28th November. EFX was one of the sponsors and made the awards, which featured layers of brightly coloured laminated acrylic. Dee was invited to present four of the awards at the event and did it with panache in four inch heels! “I had a ball – it was a fabulous evening and it was so lovely to meet the Carnyx girls for the first time, having worked with them for years.”
Seated at the same table as Dee was Stewart MacLennan, who had travelled from the small Hebridean island of Tiree to be presented with the award for Best Small Event of the Year. He co-organises The Tiree Music Festival, which started just five years ago and is run by a team of volunteers. He explained that: “This year was only our 5th Music Festival, so to receive a UK Award is a massive achievement and great testament to everyone involved in team TMF”. The trophy took pride of place at a recent community evening and plans are afoot for a permanent trophy cabinet to be installed in Tiree’s Community Hall. Festival tickets are limited by the number of ferry crossings to just 1700 and, judging by early bird sales, it will be another sell-out event this coming July.
