A Passion For Polo At The Third Viking Cup

The Viking Cup, The Isle of Man’s Premier Invitational Polo Tournament, returned for a third year running providing world-class horsemanship, competition and a vibrant atmosphere for players and audience members at the picturesque Ballacooiley Equestrian Estate in Ballaugh

Inspired by the resounding success of Ramsey Crookall’s annual private “Polo in the Park” event, the Triskelion Polo Club and Ramsey Crookall hosted the first Viking Cup in August 2023, where six teams from across the UK and the Isle of Man competed for the inaugural trophy, captivating avid polo enthusiasts. This event was the first-ever invitational polo tournament held on the Isle of Man, and Fiesta Del Asado White from Offchurch Bury Polo Club became the first team to win The Viking Cup.

Ramsey Crookall is the Isle of Man’s longest-established firm of stockbrokers and investment managers, established in 1946 & The Triskelion Polo Club founded in 2014 brings together a vibrant community who share a passion for the Polo game, with elegant, spirited horses, flourishing fields, expert coaching and unforgettable social events. These two big names combined in the Isle Of Man made for a fantastic event for their third year running.

This year’s tournament was attended by His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor and Lady Lorimer, along with over 750 spectators throughout the three-day event. Teams from Dundee and Perth Polo Club in Scotland, Shrewsbury Polo Club in England, and the Isle of Man’s Triskelion Polo Club gathered to compete in the Isle’s leading invitational polo event, “The Viking Cup.”

The tournament concluded with an exciting final on the Sunday, where local Triskelion polo teams Locate IOM and Ramsey Crookall faced each other, with Locate IOM narrowly securing victory in a close match. They scored 7 goals to 6 against Ramsey Crookall, with Dundee and Perth finishing in third place. EFX created these one a kind trophies featuring The Viking Cup’s striking logo. The client said  “We have used the EFX to make trophies since the first Viking Cup, and every year since then for the last three years.”
